Grocery & Drug Stores in Amarillo in 1938

Clipped from the 14 Aug 1938 Amarillo Sunday News-Globe

This building at 500 N. Fillmore housed Sewell Drug Store in 1938. It was next to the old No. 4 Fire Station

  1. I well remember Sewell Drug. We lived closer to S&M and my dad owned a cafe close to them, so he watched the Smith (the S of S&M) boys, Herman, Dallas, and Spencer grow up, so we naturally shopped most frequently at S&M. But we often would be close to Sewell's when we had a need and would stop by. Service there was always top-notch as it also was at S&M.
