Talmage Place was a 6-story apartment building built in 1927 at 14th & Van Buren by rancher and oilman H. E. Smith. It had sixty apartments. The building is still standing today as part of the Park Central Retirement Community. It hasn't changed much, has it?
I loved the old Talmadge. Went to parties in the penthouse and visited friends there. It was the closest thing to a NY style apartment in Amarillo. When it was sold it was gutted and renovated and all the old fixtures were auctioned off. Now the only original parts of the building are the brick facades.
